About

Engineers who answer their phones at three in the morning.

Founded in Nairobi in 2011 on a simple proposition — that Africa's networks deserve the same engineering rigor as anywhere else. Fourteen years on, we still believe it.

A letter from the founder

Why we built this.

In 2011 I was running a fiber crew out of a converted office in Westlands, splicing through the night for clients who needed the work done before the bank branches opened the next morning. The work was unglamorous and the hours were long. We learned that infrastructure is only ever as good as the people standing over it at two in the morning when something fails.

The prevailing model then — and still now, in much of the continent — is fragmented. A global vendor sells the equipment, a local crew installs it, and somebody else maintains it badly. Three handoffs. Three opportunities for the work to go wrong.

We built Techsource to remove every handoff. The engineer who designs your network sources the equipment, supervises the install, signs the commissioning data, and answers their phone when something fails. It is, we admit, a slower way to grow. It is also why our networks do not go dark.

Today we operate from eight cities across the continent. We are still, fundamentally, the same firm we were in that converted Westlands office — engineers who refuse to subcontract the work that matters. If that is what you need, we should talk.

What we believe

Four principles. Taken seriously.

/ 01

Engineering rigor.

We commission everything we install. Test data, link budgets, acceptance documents — every job, every time. If it isn't documented it didn't happen.

/ 02

No subcontracted seams.

The engineer who designs the work stays on the work order until handover. No throw-it-over-the-wall, no anonymous crew, no surprises at commissioning.

/ 03

Continuous learning.

Every senior engineer carries at least one current vendor certification, paid for by the company. Median tenure is 9 years. We grow our own.

/ 04

Pick up the phone.

When a client calls, an engineer answers. The principle applies to teammates and partners too. A working number is the cheapest competitive advantage in our industry.

Leadership

The team.
